Dear Jason, This is a very well written piece and worthy of publication. There is one awkward sentence at the beginning of paragraph five and as an ex-catholic schoolgirl, I never start a sentence with But. The nuns would roll over. Minor things and of course my opinion only. (I am the queen of run on sentences). I understand the problems facing the mentally ill and their families. Mental illness has touched my family too. I wish there was more help out there for those suffering. In my job as admin officer in the emergency department of a hospital I see people like your brother nearly every day. They come in, talk to the mental health team, then discharge themselves. Some nursing staff are uncaring but others do what they can within the limitations of "the system".
