In my opinion, the story needs more content, which can be used to connect the reader to the characters. Plus, it sort of lacks tension and release. Like in music, the readers like to be in a state of suspense, and then the reveal will ease the tension.
The overall subject matter is lost to me. Is it that Trent is persistent? That is not highlighted. in the end "smiled" but what was he smiling about? There is no hint that he was smiling because he felt connected and bonded to the new boys? "His mother said. “Lots of nice girls play tennis.”
" is Trent a Girl?
