An interesting viewpoint of death and life. It would make a good long fiction story--assuming it IS fiction ;O) An alternate ending could have your lead decide to be more interactive with the world, creating an association that helps others, going into politics (though maybe death would be a better option there), or even heading an advertising company that would educate people about bettering their world. But maybe that is a bit tooo saccarin.
On the other hand, immortality is definitely overrated in my (and apparently, your) opinion. The ending was not a surprise, but i really liked the whole story. Congratulations.
