This is my interpretation of the poem. Which moved me much and had me go back and read it a number of times. To me it felt like the boy was falling, from a ferris wheel of some ride that has someone high in the air. The quotations served to me as when he hit. His spirit falls from his body. He lands close to a carousel. Now, this may be all wrong. But after a few reads, it's just how I see it. That's the beautiful thing about writing, a single passage can go a million different ways. It's all upon the reader. Keep it up.
