Review of Seagulls Hush

Reiterating that I am just learning to really read poetry, I enjoyed this well written poem. It's sad; it speaks of betrayal and broken promises. I think you beautifully captured those moments of reflection and pain when we are alone and realizing that we screwed up mightily, and wonder how we are ever going to make amends to those whose hearts we trampled in our negligent disregard.

WoW! What a wonderful poem. Becoming a member of WdC has offered me an opportunity to read some wonderful poetry, which I did not read much of before finding the site. While it is hard for me to review with a poet's eye, I can say that this is a very good piece of writing that evoked emotion in me. I could relate. Beautiful writing.

This warmed my heart to read. A very poignant short piece that said so much in such few words.

Allow me to quickly share... I am a member of a small writing group. We met at a beginners writing class and have gone on to become good online friends. During our time together most of us have shared far more than our writing, delving into personal and painful things along the way. I think that the next time such a thing pops up in our group, I'll say those powerful words "Thank you for trusting us."

Honestly, I'd love to post this whole piece (with you as the author, of course, and where I found this) to share the message in its entirety. I would never do that without your permission however. If you do not mind it shared, let me know. If you DO mind though, think nothing of it. I enjoyed the piece immensely anyway. Thanks for the simple but powerful life lesson.

Review of Someone I Know

What a great poem. I have known this girl (and many more of shades of the same). I've known the lost, the addled, the addicted, the broken, the dumb, the confused, the blank slate, the dreamer, and the alley cat. Any and all of these such creatures (and many more) are summed up and described quite elegantly here. Great work.

Review of Bad to the Bone

This is such a funny poem! I just reviewed another funny poem and was lamenting to the writer about how so few people write funny things anymore, preferring the more serious to humor. Imagine my delight when I again hit the random review prompt and came across your wonderful piece about a wayward dog and revenge. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. Congratulations on your witty and grin inducing work.

Hahahahahaha! This piece won my heart. It seems to me that fewer and fewer writers even attempt to make people laugh out loud anymore. Thank you so much for posting this clever and witty poem. I was in need of a smile, and this piece certainly did not fail. I am quite sure that others out there feel the way that I do~ looking for the written word to provide a grin, a moment of giddy pleasure, a reprieve from the seriousness of the day to day. Congratulations on this wonderful poem.

What a good story full of heartache, loss, pain, hope, survival and redemption. I felt SO bad for Angela during this tale. But it did warm my heart that she and Isabella found a true hero in Carl. For all the bad luck suffered by Angela, she was a trooper throughout. I liked your characters and your attention to detail. Through your writing I could easily see her Cape home, its furnishings and style...the kind of home that I dream of. I could easily see her beach and ocean view. It was a good story! Thanks for posting it. It was amazing that you could pack such drama in a story of that length. You should be proud of your work.

Review of Transition

I found this story through the posting of another reviewer and had to check it out. Glad that I did. This is a great turning story, full of yummy description and raw emotion. I've written my fair share of vampire lore but I doubt any of my turning stories match the care that you've put into this one. Vivid and sharp, I was there with your characters as the story spun its way to a close. Very good writing and a worth read. Thanks for sharing this.

This is a deep and painful poem. It invokes memories of my own betrayal by a family member who I was always more than a little jealous, and fell short of being better than them at, well, everything. Despite all that, I looked up to the person and was cut core deep when they did something so backstabby and petty to me that it just crushed and disappointed me past the point of return.

We never have gotten past it, and I have nothing to do with the person now. They say time heals all wounds but I'm going to need some more time. Hahahaa.

Your poem invoked a lot of that old emotion, anger and pain. It's a good poem for it to be able to so easily draw me in and back to that time. Congrats and great job. ~Lore
