Review of A Century of Lies

I really did enjoy this poem. Not only does it deal with some of the questions that I am constantly asking myself, you are not afraid to pose those questions to other people. Who are we and what are we here for. This is a question that has always been asked for time immemorial and is something that more than a few of us struggle with. I feel that perhaps there is no real answer and the only thing we are truly able to do is not become bogged down in the details!

I really liked this! You did a great job capturing the moment when two people look into each others eyes and see that flame of desire!

Review of DISCRETION

I really like this poem. It offers the reader a really great way to step back from a situation and realize that anger and impatience more often than not lead to absolutely nothing but more toil and less resolution. The last stanza struck me specifically because it almost felt as though it was a prayer. The poet is almost praying to get through a tough situation instead of turning back to his or her old ways.

Keaton,

I found this poem to be a great representation of the man that you see yourself as. I love the idea that who we are and what we are is an accumulation of past experiences, trinkets and mementos. The over all theme to the poem seems to be pretty dark, which is okay. You spoke of duality in line # 42 which I thought was very interesting. The poem seems to be an outcry against loneliness that ultimately is a result of the realization that when we die we are truly alone, all that is left of us is the mark that we leave on those around us through memories and experiences. I would love to see you play a little more on the duality aspect of the poem. I.e A focus on the positive effects we can unintentionally or otherwise have on our loved ones or those who care for us.

If you are interested I would highly recommend Dylan Thomas' "Do not go gentle into that good night," the two poems share some similar themes :)
