Review of Second Chance

What I liked a great deal about this story was the writing style. It kept me gripped by the story till the very end.

In a world that is growing increasingly selfish everyday, the story you have told raises hope. Do such people really exist anymore? Such as the surgeon who realizes that it was he who needed to be pardoned and not the girl?

I was relieved that you came out with a happy ending, because I was almost sure that that wouldn't be the case. I don't know how long you will give Emily to live, but even if it is a short span of life, each day would count for more than a million years. And I can't help wondering if there could be a parallel story where Emily dies and life goes on from there.

I am not sure why, but as I read through the story, I was reminded of Graham Greene's novel End of the Affair. The heroine dies in that novel of course, but her capacity to love had something in common with Emily's. That story was completely different from yours, except for this feature. The possibility of a woman's endless love. Despite all the cynicism at my disposal, your story keeps haunting me. I am almost sure that such love could really exist in our world.

Cheers.
