A very emotionally powerful poem. The imagery paints a vivid picture of a heart breaking. The flow picked me up and easily carried me through the entire poem. I am sorry that you had to experience such pain. My favorite line,"forged in fire" shows strength through pain. Thank you for sharing such a personal experience.

A very touching piece about the power of being struck by love. Your love for her is plain enough to be felt by the reader. You bare your heart and soul for all to see, fearless of the vulnerability. I hope the love is reciprocated. I enjoyed reading this, it was so sweet.

A beautifully sad piece. The images create a rich picture of the heartbreaking beauty in dying. The closing lines when the person dies, was very touching. I liked the bit about running across hot coals towards the stars, it made a powerful image. My favorite bit was about it being hard to see the beauty of life through the flames. I enjoyed reading this.

A brief, but endearing poem. The imagery of "laughter sparkles in the summer day," created a wonderfully joyous picture. The flow was as easy as a stroll along the path in the park. The poem makes the reader feel like they are being wrapped in a warm blanket of memory. I enjoyed reading this.

A very touching monologue. The reader is pulled into your childhood, playing in the pond with you. I found the line, "The adults and the food controlled the picnic table, and we wet already." a tad confusing. The fondness that you reflect on those times with your family is shared with the reader. Thank you for sharing such a tender moment.

A brief, but informative essay. I noticed a single typo in the first paragraph, "proclaimed, and than, on," should be, "proclaimed, and then, on...". You managed to pack a lot of information in a short essay. The reader feels like they are familiar with the country. Giving the links permits the reader to learn even more. I enjoyed reading this.

An interesting story about a first day on the job at a zoo. The characters were believable and relatable. The story was compelling, keeping the reader's interest for the entire story. The lighthearted, mostly uneventful day took a very dark turn at the end. I found it very effective to just allude to the zookeeper becoming lion chow. I enjoyed reading this.

An intriguing short story. The character was a terrifying villain. Taking the lives of his victims in such a cold and calculating manner can chill the reader to their bones.Leaving the question of the next girl in gym, referred to unanswered allows the reader to guess and create their own endings. I enjoyed reading this piece.

A heartbreaking piece. The reader's heart goes out to the poor, unfortunate bear. Leaving the question about what happens to the bear unanswered leaves the reader wanting more and create their own ending for him. The story, although brief, was compelling. Thank you for sharing this story.

A very dramatic poem. The imagery creates a rich picture of a gladiator entering battle. The flow picks me up and carries me easily through the entire poem. The reader learns some terms and a Latin phrase, which I enjoy. The reader can almost see the gladiator and smell the dust of the arena and feel the heat of the sun. I really enjoyed reading this.

An insightful essay. You discuss your perspective very eloquently. You come at Romeo and Juliet from a unique angle and argue your point effectively. I found it interesting that you reverse the "good guys" and the "bad guys." Romeo and Juliet, along with their supporters are typically viewed as the victims of tyrannical parents. This piece gives a new view.

The imagery of this poem paints a picture of an idealistic and tranquil place. The reader can almost see the little village in the dell. The flow was a nice meandering stroll. The reader can feel their stress leaving the mind as they go along in the poem. I really enjoyed reading this.

An entertaining fan fiction/short story. An unexpected twist at the end with the security's wife being a former lover of James Bond. The lightheartedness of the interaction between the two characters was compelling. The dialogue flowed naturally. I enjoyed reading this story.

A very powerful story. It reads like an autobiographical story, if it is, I am sorry for the loss of your dear friend.I was a tad confused about why the pastor talked to them about not giving up on friendship. Did they have falling out or something like that? That is the only minor issue I had reading this. The characters were engaging and believable. The story was compelling the reader to keep reading. I really enjoyed reading this.

A sweet, touching poem. The natural way they speak to each other is adorable and helps the reader to relate to this precious couple. The imagery invokes pictures of a couple that not only love each other, but are best friends and are comfortable with each other. I enjoyed this poem. Thank you for sharing it.

A beautiful take on boxing and training. The imagery illustrates the emotional and physical release of training. This poem shows the art and cathartic power of boxing in an effective way. Even though I do not really enjoy boxing, I can appreciate the beauty of it. Thank you for sharing it.

A perfect example of a wrapped refrain, you successfully incorporated all of the elements of the form. The imagery paints a vivid picture of a desolate park bench in the winter. The flow was easy to follow along with.I enjoyed reading this poem. Thank you for sharing it.

A very emotional poem. I am sorry that you had to go through that.I am happy that you found some true friends that helped you find a better place. The imagery shows the story of a girl hurt and very vulnerable. The flow carried me through the entire poem. Thank you for showing this part of you with everyone.

A wonderfully rich description of the morning after a party. It may be any type of party, not just a pot party. The imagery paints a rich picture of food, the reader can almost smell the reeking leftover food. An effecting warning to not overdue anything, or there will be a price to pay the next day. I enjoyed reading this.

A poignant essay about identity and acceptance. The dad telling his son that the clothes make the identity and forces a locked in role, reflected in the clothing was deep. My heart broke for Muzzy, there is no rejection worse than from one's own parents who are supposed to love you. The reader can feel his heart sink at the rejection.

I can see why this was awarded first place. The imagery perfectly captures a moment of pure love between a mother and child. The flow allowed the reader to dance with you as well. The end gives me the impression that the child was lost, if that is true, I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing.

A very dramatic poem about love and loss. The imagery shows a picture of the pain and doubt that can accompany love. The flow kept up its relentless pace, pulling the reader along with it. The end effectively points out that love does not always end happily. Good poem.
