Humm. I had just gotten to work as an in home caregiver and absolutely no one else wanted to think about it. Everyone wanted to be happy and normal. They changed the channel and I think put on the Disney Channel. I went about my business, and did my math work on downtime like usual. They had a "Christian" house and were really proud of it, but I didn't hear nobody pray.

Wow, that was great! Finally, I've had a poetry breakthrough on the site: one of them evoked an emotional response instead of being something I was only cerebral about.

Review of GAMING

I kind of agree. As a matter of fact I'm sure that art imitates life rather than vice versa. People who are already criminal minded are attracted to video games which glorify criminality. There are "zillions" of computer games, all different, and people pick them out based on personal interest and taste.

Poor you! Why doesn't the system hire some honest citizens to come in there and do those 20%ers "jobs"? Oh, that's right. Freedom loving types are all bloody chicken and lazy and stuff. But then you can't have much to do, and they might be good company. You know, it could be like the peace corps or a College Work Study job.

Review of What Have I Seen?
Review by ShotSlungNapier

No, I can't agree. Take off more of the age level filters, watch for young people who are ready and willing to stand up for the side of right and encourage them. Oh, wait. That would mean more "spying" on people and we all hate that.

Review of National Security

Yeah, but even though I'm sure "government conspiracies exist is right" don't you think it's really not the information collection itself but the attitudes of the people who do it and what they eventually use it for which is most people's legitimate concern?

I had to read that a couple of times. I kind of agree. I think it matters if I cheat or not, if I do I won't learn any ting and than I really won't pass the tests of get the job anyway. But when it comes to teachers lecturing and what not, I think it's often a false, lazy man's egalitarianism on the teachers part. The teacher knows who is cheating. Why even reinforce cheating by noticing it? Why not just spend more time working with whoever obviously studies and wants to learn, and let the cheaters drop out one by one as they flunk the exams?

Review of Canadian Traffic

I took that a lot of different ways. As a poem I took it a lot of different ways, and linguistically as well. Stylistically, it was sort of Carl Sandburg as a Canadian. I mean that well, take it however you want to.

Review of Forgiveness
Review by ShotSlungNapier
Rated: 13+ | (3.0)
People will forgive others who trust God to take revenge on them for an offence ("vengeance is mine saith the Lord God of Hosts). on the other hand, there seems to be something in there about earthly law and justice. I don't join debates on the existence of God with people who write stuff like what you wrote, (and by the way I thought it was good poetry). But don't you think there is a little bit more to it that doesn't come out in a lot of Christian (or other) religious writing?

Review of Discarded

That reminds me of exactly the emotional response I have to French Curves. It really does, in a drafter's world ruled by computer operated CAD, absolutely the emotional response I really have to mechanical drafting equipment.

Review of Tia's Mysteries

That's interesting. That "crosses" styles (mystery and spy fiction). It's probably obvious to really big fiction fans, but I hadn't really thought about it before.

That deals with thinking about the passage of time in a style I personally appreciate. That's on the poetic prose side which I also personally enjoy.

obviously, you spend a lot of time working on your style and writing ability, which is really good. I guess all I got out of it was an illustration of some of the reasons why people believe some of the things they do about family values and the economy, but then that's kind of a lot, so I guess I must have "liked" it (even though they don't sound like they have a good relationship).

Hey, I knew him! Except that when he was with me, he never announced the fact that he was smoking his last cigarette. With me it was, I think I might become a vegetarian and convert religions instead of staying a Methodist. He hardly ever went to church anyway. And another thing, to: I didn't change a bit! The only thing different about me nowadays is that I figured out every single thing in the universe that I'll ever need to know from him, except everything about him.

Review of Limericks Mk XI
Review by ShotSlungNapier
Rated: 18+ | (5.0)
Oh, my favorite form of poetic expression. The perfect way to express the absolutely unfunny and over repeated truisms of life so that people who are tired of them pay attention again and people who came in so late that they are not even sure the facts described exist may take heart at the knowledge that they are not hallucinating and that someone else noticed, too!

To wax lyrical about such skill and ability, not to mention talent and erudition as it takes to write one of those would be the epitome of poetry.

Yeah, I confess to never having seen what was so funny about crucifixion. Some people have a different taste in life, though don't they? At the risk of sounding really, really, rude, would executing someone in that way be hard work? I never whistle at work myself, I use my breath to do the job.

I really like this one. It's great "E" writing, because the dog has dreams which the reader is invited to enter into by their presence in the piece. I haven't figured out why it matters that it's 28 lines long, but that might come to me later.

I love the way adult topics are treated here for all audiences, there for the discerning readers to distinguish and possibly interpret.

Review of Out There
Review by ShotSlungNapier
Rated: E | (5.0)
Ok, you have given a great description of the meaning of the phrase "out there". I assume that this place is "way out", "far out". You seem to indicate that the place is real, but that it is sort of "wrong", that you see the term "out there" as something negative. It kind of reminded me of "The Thing that Should not Be". by Metallica.

This incredibly reminds me of Albert Speer's book, "Inside the Third Reich". A very depressed liberal thinker from up north once came off a bit that way to me when I lived in Riverside County, California (not far north of the City of Dixieland, California).

He was a civil engineer and in reality and nothing like Speer.
