Impressive use of metaphor - just enough to be clear but not overdone. I am not a very seasoned or experienced poet, but for what it's worth I think that this is quite brilliant. I especially like the lines with "grumbling lightning storms" and "startled morning". I look forward to learning much from writers like yourself. Keep up the good work!
