This is a factual story relating to traditional practices of passing on the family wealth after the death of father. The old tradition was to pass the family properties to sons in equal shares. The daughters received nothing. However, the system exsisted that when they got married they received MOSALU/DOWRY from the family. This was construed as giving from the family wealth. This system is used still in India today. Now, all members of a family can contest legally a share of the property unless a will specifically state who the benefactor is going to be.
This story reflects the modern thinking. When one gets very old, people treate him as 'useless' hindrance for others. This is very true in this day and age.

I could visualise the events and the flash backs so nicely intervoven. My own life story is almost similar to this one. However, I have one son, now married and have two wonderful children. My wife, who mached the discription of Kaylie,died nearly three years ago. I too deeply believe that the rest of my life is for my grand children;'We gotta carry each other'!
Well writen story that I will keep for a long time.
Finally, the story titled 'RAKHI', written by me, hopefully will be publish soon.
