My sister once shared some wisdom with me that I'd like to pass on here. By definition, a phobia is an irrational fear of something. A phobia may have its origins well inside rational thought, but by the time it has become a phobia, it is well outside rationality.

Taking a shower with a steak knife doesn't strike me as particularly rational thinking. But then, that's just me.

This really is the problem with emotions (or, at least, some of them), isn't it? We don't really have a good way of expressing them, so we just force it down and try to forget. But doing that is basically the equivalent of forcing something to the back of the refridgerator: yeah, you might not have to worry about it for a while, but it's still there, and the longer you leave it, the worse it's going to go.
And all too soon (or so it seems), there's no room left and all spills out in a disgusting mess all over the kitchen floor.

Okay, maybe that wasn't such a great analogy, but you see where I'm going?
I sure hope so, because I kinda just grossed myself out just now.

It's sad, you know...just the way some things never change. We always go on and on about how developed we are. About how we've risen above our ancestors...Bah!
And yet, hatred persists! A closed-minded understanding that this one is not one of our own. Shun them. Hate them. For no other reason than that they are different.

I reflect on such things, and I must say, my species disappoints me.
