Nice ryhme scheme and good use of images. Exceptional progression from light to dark: "sparkle-glow-sing" turns to "goodnight-fools-shadows." The beginning undergrowth buried alludes well to dark grime at the end. Pleasing and admirable.
I use the subject of people as trees in my paintings, so I automatically like this piece. Some minor revisions you may consider are: giving Elm "sheltering wings" and letting Maple "shed fire." Change "Yet" to "Though Douglas fir soars to forest heights, the unlikely, stunted Bristlecone still has much in common." Over the years doesn't Redwood brave "many a fire?" The ending is beautiful.
