I came out and my family treats me the same as before... generally respectful but also like I'm an immature brat

I would say you probably only really know famous gay men who tend to be objectively attractive. Anyone can be gay regardless of if you find them attractive or not. Probably the bigger thing is you don't know a lot of gay people because we as a society make it out as something taboo.

Besides unless you are a man who likes other men, it really doesn't matter much if you think they are attractive because they probably aren't into you anyway (I hope this doesn't sound mean)

I voted only telling close friends/family only because they are still a lot of close-minded people. If the person knows it is safe, they should come out to everyone.

But still, they don't need to announce it when they first meet someone. It could be more like a fun fact like your favorite color or animal. They can ask about it, or it could naturally come up in conversation. No one should be forced to come out though if they don't feel comfortable.

Really I don't think it should even be a big deal. If you are straight, you don't have to come out. People just assume everyone is straight unless otherwise told. It's not a big deal that you (exclusively) like the opposite sex, why should it be a big deal if you like any other gender?
