Review of The Phoenix

Very painful piece without a doubt.

I can sense the hurt, the fear and even the anger that is behind these words, but just like the poem, there is a point as one reads that everything begings to ease, begings to loosen.

I truly enjoyed reading "The Phoenix" and look forward to more from you.

At first the story had me thinking it was about a Prostitute (Elaine) getting knocked around by her over-weight pimp (Arthur) but when I read that she was having an affair with a highschooler, my attention peaked. Having been a highschool boy once myself, I and probably every teenage male have had the dream of being seduced by an older woman/teacher.

This is a good story because it tells of the consequences of this kind of situation. One thing confused me, what murder?

Wow! A very...dark and compelling poem. The subject matter is one that I personally think is a very tough subject and writing about it is just as tough but if you can do it successfully then you have a real talent (in my opinion).

At first I did not know what to expect but now, after reading the poem it has got me wanting to know more!! So now I plan on going back and reading from the very beginning!

Congrats L.A. Powell on writting an excellent poem.

Review of The Moment

A good story about the lack of communication that can happen in any family home. Giving both points of view was an excellent idea, in my opinion because the reader can then get the chance to experance the emotion's of that character.

It was no wonder the character of the father was being the way he was when his own father call him a stupid kid because he wanted to take Violin lessions and to make music.

All in all it is a very emotionly charged story with hints of fear, loss, hatred and yet through it all, acceptance and maybe even renewed relationships and new beginnings(?).
