Review of The New Baby
Review by Ree Lannes
Rated: E | (5.0)
Dear Kerri,
This is a wonderful story. This story repeats in life, over and over, but never fails to be true--kids do worry about not being loved when a new baby comes home.
This story about young Billy tells the tale and takes you right into the little boy's heart--what he thinks, what he worries, what he wants. The worry and fear are dealt with in a gentle way, and the story is one any child going through this can relate to and find solace in the fact that having a sister "wouldn't be bad."
In such small steps is growth measured. The little boy becomes a big brother and protector, one small step toward the man Billy(or any other little boy)will become.
A well-written story!
Peace, Ree

Review of Night Haiku
Review by Ree Lannes
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Dear Miss Pageturner,

In three short phrases, you
have created a place
of great suspense.

A wonderfully taut poem, the closest thing to a Haiku mystery novel as I have ever seen! Taut, words well-placed, and succinct, it opens the mind to imagination and the possiblity of more, perhaps even a novel.
I love the challenges Haiku offers a person--to write and create a feeling that can be expressed clearly and beautifully in just seventeen syllables. You have accomplished that and I can say little to improve upon what you've done.
Well done, and keep on writing!
Peace, Ree

Review of Life Runs Deep
Review by Ree Lannes
Rated: E | (5.0)
Demosthenes,
what w wonderful poem this is. The wording is succinct, yet poignant, full of a plethora of emotions--the sense of fighting fear, of a steady courage, and a love of life that runs deeper than any trouble. I suggest the title of this could be LIFE RUNS DEEP, or simply RUNS DEEP.
In a few brief words you have captured the human dilemma: to face life head on is better than shrinking from fear.
Wonderful,wonderful poem. I loved it!

Review of Hunter
Review by Ree Lannes
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Gripping tale!! Make me want to hear more. How did Kell find this creature, and of what realm was it? What happens after?
The story is taut, and it doesn't let the reader go until the last minute. Descriptions are vivid--the story reminded me of GRENDEL, the classic hero-tale of Anglo-Saxon England. It has that same resonance about it. This could be a great novel!

Review of The Hidden Moon
Review by Ree Lannes
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Well written story of a lonely woman yearning for a call that will not come...who of us hasn't felt these feelings? The imagery is poignant, the woman's dreams bittersweet.
I was immediately drawn to the woman, her connection with the moon(seemingly her only friend), and her deep loneliness and yearning. Through the story, I got to know the object of her love, a man who gave no promises, courted in a distant, generic sort of way, charming, witty--and totally uncommitted. A casually cruel man who plays with her feelings...
I wanted to tell the heroine there are other fish in the sea. But, when one loves, such words matter little. Watching her wait, watching her hurt, made the story all the more poignant.
