You did a great job drawing the reader right into the action and giving the history of the couple in a brief but effective way. You have a nice way of balancing story, dialogue, and description that seems quite natural even though most writers know it is very difficult to do. My only criticism is the main characters name: Jude. Since it is such a gender neutral name I was getting confused as to which character went with the name. In a longer story where there is more character development it would be okay but in a short story such as this it is a little confusing. Overall, however, this was an excellent piece.
