A tribute to those in "harm's way".
Forever A Hero

A bomb explodes, a young soldier dies.
A doorbell rings, a mother cries.

Men with sad faces deliver the news,
a sad, bitter chore they never would choose.

"Yes ma'am", they say, "he was our brother".
Not much solace for the heartbroken mother.

A foolish blunder, a war we have lost.
Many are asking, "is it worth the cost"?

Each day brings more killing, more sadness,
where are the good people who'll stop this madness?

21 shots shatter the air, a bugle blows "Taps",
a neatly folded flag 'cross the parent's laps.

Then it's all over, the crowd melts away,
the young soldier now sleeps 'neath the clay.

Never again ordered to go on patrol,
forever a hero, may God bless his soul.
