Finding solace in my depression.
The warm breeze gently tousles her chestnut-colored hair
while she thinks.
The water laps at her bare feet.
She enjoys the coolness
against her skin,
she lightly ran the coolness down the inside of her arm.
Up and down, then up again.
Gently caressing the soft skin of her forearm.
Feelings of elation saturate her.
So she imagines
and daydreams
the crimson liquid dripping down her arm into the water.
Then she would cut deeper
and the blood would pour
from her weakened body and
she would cut more.
Deeper.
She would drag the blade along her sun kissed skin
back and forth.
Deeper.
She would rip the blade through her skin
until she felt no more
of the pain she had inside...
but she would not need to.
She would not.
Her eyes touched the sky
as she set the blade in the sand.
She would not do it.
Not for you,
you were the reason she had thought it to begin with.
No,
she would do it for her
to show you what beauty you had missed,
what you left behind.
She would show you just how great she is,
she would strive to do her best
to show you what she is capable of,
then she would see you smile,
and only then
would she say goodbye.
