About a dragonfly flying around
The orchestra played a bright, brassy tune
Under the orange cast of a round summer's moon.
People enraptured sat in their chairs,
Without any worries, without any cares.
As it got darker,
The mosquitoes did come.
A winged army of vampires,
Advanced and kept cadence with the beat of a drum.
But there was one who could hear them,
For the droning 'skeeter wings announced, "Feast!"
To the blue-chromed flying dragon,
That swooped in from the east.
Rolling and pitching and sudden quick turns,
'Round the fountain, the statue and the big Grecian urns.

No one noticed this dragon in flight,
Sating his belly and saving the night.
No biting and scratching and slapping tonight,
Only the moon’s cool evening
Of musical delight.

When the orchestra finished and took their last bow,
The 'skeeters were defeated and in full retreat now.
The dragonfly’s party was now over and done.
