Sometimes we don't know who the heroes are. This is for them.
In my Daddy's study
Is a box upon the wall
Within are several medals
Because he gave his all

Yes, Daddy was a hero
Says the box upon the wall
But that's not quite enough
To make us all stand tall

You see Daddies all have children
Little hearts that need to see
How much that Daddy loves them
In moments that are key

They too have their own box
A box that we can not see
And if they are forgotten
A shadow box they'll be

I have my own medals
And this I will not deny
They're not easily given
I think it's worth the try

The first is called Friendship
It's so hard for them to get
Moving every three years
To reach out is a threat

Another called the Hug
For those times when Daddy's gone
Moment shared by tape delay
Time quickly marches on

The third is special it's called Tear
It's the strangest one you've seen
This Daddy brings his work home
Drill saergent tough and mean

The last is called Hero
That is what these children are
They don't choose this life themselves
But still have battle scars

So 'ten hut and stand up straight
Let's give heroes their due
And respond to all the sacrafice
It the least that we can do
