May not have a lot of meaning to others, but its based on something that really happend.
"A mistaken Love Story"

She was a lonely girl, only 12, 6th grade.
School work, more work, honor roll was all she made.

He was a boy, a player, a cheat on himself.
His grades rolled in, his books rested on the shelf.

Girl after girl, he kept breaking things off.
Same way, some how, his cold heart never grew soft.

Nothing ever with him was for sure.
That was, of course, until the day he met her.

She was walking to class with not much to say.
He followed her closely that cold rainy day.

He lay his hand on her shoulder as she let out a gasp.
"Ok," he was thinking, "I'll do this real fast."

"So,uh, you got a boyfriend?" he smotthly asked.
She turned and sighed, "I'll get back to you on that."

Her heart sank deep to the pit of her chest.
She really thought he believed SHE was the best.

From all the girls throughout the school
Him with her would have broken some rule.

Someone crushing on...her... seemed to good to be true.
So the next day she replied, "I'll go with you."

"Here's my number, call me" she said.
"Aight then." he answered nodding his head.

And off he went that day, not a word.
Things were ok... until her parents heard.

While she talked to him on the phone,
Her mom pulled down the drive just getting home.

Her mom, through the window saw her talking to him.
She unknowingly, just held up her grin.

That night at dinner her mom did the task.
She said, "Who were you talking to, may I ask?"

"My friend." she lied, easy and calm.
Her mom did not see the sweat on her palms.

"Is he cute?!" her mom asked in an anxious tone.
"Well...he's black" she said. It chilled her to the bone.

Her mom faintly whispered, "That changes everything."
They both stared at their plates, said not a single thing.

That very same night her mom called her "dad".
Such an interesting, lengthy talk that they had.

And so it was to be that she told him goodbye.
Or else, her mom claimed, "Her reputation would die"

She met him behind the school at 3:10
She explained that shes sorry for what could have been.

"No!" he fakely pleaded, "I need you here!"
and so from her eyes dropped a single tear.

The thought of skin color deciding her fate?!
She just couldn't have that, so her mom would have to wait.

"Look," she said, "Maybe this doesn't have to end."
Little did she know his pleading was pretend.

"We gotta keep this on the down low" she said.
Once again:"Aight then" nodding his head.

She lied, told her mom that she did what was told.
Her belief to this lie was as good as gold.

So the next few days, things went okay.
They held hands, hugged, did what they may.

Of course, he was a player, she wanted love.
She considered this boy some gift from above.

That is the reason she was shattered when
he said that he could not see her again

He claimed that it was vital to leave her.
Everyone laughed at this boy with "Jungle Fever".

Jungle fever is when black goes with white.
The truth reveals that it just isn't... right.

He left her to be with Tenqua "Loveshack"
The only diff was she was white and Teniqua was black...

And it really so it really shows up to be,
that the girl in the poem is really me...

You can say all you want, like "Too young to love"
But this feeling I have takes my heart and shoves.

Each day that boy is all I think about,
and it rips me open from inside out.

(I know you might not consider this one of my best, but I wrote it last year sometime. I dedicate this poem to my only one...James Bryant. Hope you are enjoying Teniqua still..)
