the pain of losing someone

You hold me close,
your gentle embrace,
warm. inviting.

Your heart thudding against my chest,
your fingers brushing the hair away from my delicate face,
my eyes swimming in the depth of your own,
dark. compelling.

My eyes close,
I still feel your heart,
beating. singing.

I dream of you,
your loving smile,
your warm embrace,
passion. love.

I awake and there is change,
I still lay my head against your chest,
but I can no longer feel your heart,
pain. sorrow.

I will never forget you,
as I stand in the pouring rain,
it falls like the tears of heaven,
crying. remembering.
