The poem is dedicated to those in the 2005 destruction of New Orleans
How would you feel?
If everything you had, was gone?
How would you feel?
If everything you had was destroyed?
I’m sitting on my roof
Covered in filth and waste
And I see a dead body floating in a booth
It gives my mouth a nasty taste
Nothing is left, but water!
Nothing is left, but filth!
I cry, and aimlessly saunter
For the ones I lost in this storm
New Orleans! New Orleans!
It has all been smashed to smithereens
And there I stand shaky and in shock
Counting down till rescue, even without a clock
But I realized, that I had already been saved
God went, through much more, the price that He paid
And I thank you!
For releasing me out of this bowl,
This earthly body can be replaced, but not my inner soul!
