In the dim recesses my being, there is a brighter side. With one Spark, I might find it.
Life is a woman, for I do not understand
She loves me when she wants to
And I love her how I can

She paints the sky in unnamed colors
When all I see is her deft strokes
As I long to be the canvas

Perhaps she’ll smile at me
And I’ll know what to do

Love is a child, for I do not comprehend
She laughs without warning
And I live without a plan

She glosses over lavish gifts
When all I see is the is the careful wrappings
As I play inside the box

Perhaps she’ll walk one day
And I’ll learn to pursue

Loss is a man, for I do not let it end
He follows when I’m foolish
And I love before I mend

He builds his house on shifting sands
When all I know is the roof over my head
As I long to relocate

Perhaps he’ll wake late one day
And I’ll be gone without a trace
