A romance poem about loving and losing.
IF I COULD WRITE A LOVE POEM

If I could write a love poem
I would choose not to use ink,
Instead, I'd use a pen filled
With fallen tears. As I think
Of the many sad stories
Which keep waltzing in my head
(I'd copy Shakespeare's sorrow.)
They will cry while it is read.
That’s what loving is about,
Heartbreaks, emotional pain
Longings, shattered dreams, hollow
Bleeding hurts and scars which stain
Memories of those who loved.

If I could write a love poem
White parchment I would not use
Instead, I'd write on tissue,
Thin, and a sad lily blue.
It would reflect my confused heart
As I pen my woeful tale.
I could use that same tissue
To catch every tear that fell.
The poem may be hard to read
(To see clearly through the stains)
I'd share remembered moments
So readers could feel my pain
Carved out by yesterday's loves.

If I could write a love poem
Kindly words would not be used,
Instead, I would use feelings,
Sharing torture and abuse
Words which break the heart in two.
Frustration's gloom shall be penned
And will weave from first word scratched
Through last, (and each penned within)
With vibrating rainbow words.
Forgotton feelings regained
Will draw from each new reader
Shadows of their own love-pain
Felt by all who have ever loved.
