A true story of a girl I once knew...
~I~
Living in this plastic wrap world
It keeps it clean and free
Layer after layer, building up
Never to be seen
Build your walls and floors and doors
Pretend that they'll protect
All that you don't want to feel
And all that you regret
And all that you refuse to think
And wish that you had done
All the battles you hate you lost
The ones you hate you won
Wrap yourself and wrap your clothes
Wrap your shelves of books
Wrap obsessions and possessions
Wrap the things you took
It lasts and lasts for oh so long
Catching blood and tears
Surrounding you just like a shield
Bearing off the fears...

~II~
Living in this plastic wrap world
It gets so hard to breathe
Layer after layer, building up
It gets so hard to see
The walls you built begin to fall
The floors and doors will rot
Leaving you barren and exposed
If you do something or not
And all the feelings coming back
Stronger than before
Boring through the protective coating
Old and new, more and more
The wrappings peel, a bit at first
The edges start to fray
All you hid behind the clear
Will not go away
It starts to burn with you inside
Suffer without noise
And the worst about this pain
Is it's something you enjoy
