A poem about some moments I spent at a small river in the Catskill Mountains.

The Neversink River

Nature was so close at hand,
this truly was a tranquil place
where the sleepy Catskills stand,
peace reflected on a river's face.

I came here for a bit of quiet,
it was the perfect spot to think.
A welcome break in a stressful diet
on the banks of the Neversink.

So graceful were her waters
cast in silence, yet unbroken.
A boy fishes with his father,
few words between them, spoken.

Wisdom passed from man to boy,
of a man's thoughts he drinks,
both filled with sadness and joy
on the banks of the Neversink.
