A short poem I wrote having a panic attack, this is how I was feeling.
As the chaos swells the equilibrium shifts
From calm and reposed, to "taking a fit".
Shift in your seat; keep your sanity in check
Control the qualms, and dam down your sweat.
As you heave each breath deep into your chest
You know this is it. You're about to meet death and
The rhythm is fast, you're hot on your heels,
Chasing yourself round to deny what you feel.
You grab at your lungs, you grab at your hands
Scratching your skin, making childish demands
And over and over your faulty delusions
Breed self-induction of worthless exclusions
Control is not lost, you have not cracked
Though it's hard to believe, when panic attacks.
