Bejeweled thorns
roam
the city’s ashen streets

Dust jackknives
permeate
the shattered glass in distress

Energetic vortices
rip
through alloy skeletons

Screaming atoms
bail
through the tallow sky

Shattered lives
invade
a mourning Motel-6

A forgotten piece of instant innocence is
reclaimed
