Thinking only of one.
"What do you think?
Is it good? Is it good?
Do you think its good?"
The shadows of the corner reached for the men
They lunged and grasped at flesh
"Is it good?" asked the man of weak composition
"Its fair" replied his companion of fair disposition
The fire was crackling, provoking the shadows.
"Throw another log on the fire" the friend requested
"I will in a minute - is it good?"
Black eyes touched black ink
Whilst black air waited, its breath held
The roar subsided; roar, growl, purr, sigh
The shadows walked closer
Heels clicking on the floor
"Attend the fire!" the fair man shrieked.
His companion paid him no mind
He was consumed with the work of words.
His companion arose, not to return
He arose, swept aside the opaque curtain and left.
And the shadows closed in as the breathing ceased.
