Conversation with son on why he doesn't get to have a 'daddy.
“Where is my daddy”, your child asks
How I wish I didn’t have to answer that question
He wants one like Brandon’s dad
But one who looks more like him

“Why is he gone”, pursues your son
How do I answer that and keep the tears away

“Did he love me?” the questions come
So I think back and remember the day you left

You couldn’t wait and tell me, you had to run away
After all of the promises, you were too scared to stay

I screamed in fear when I read the note
Clutching my stomach I fell to the floor
You didn’t think we could make it
Being young and on our own

But WE did

The only thing I can’t give him
Is what you took away
