Changing, getting better.
Hidden in the darkness,
my voice a silent call.
I walked this earth in mourning,
a stranger to them all.

Until the sunlight graced my face,
I would not know a better place.
With no warning came the day,
he pushed the dreary gray away.

My eyes are new and see much more,
Astounding colors I have never seen before.
Mended are my timeworn scars,
as many here are as there are stars.

I can shout, I can dance,
I have been given a new and better chance.
I am redeemed, I am not bad,
I don’t ever again have to stay so sad.

I embrace the one who gave this gift to me, with a face like my own, hope, now, is all that I see.
