looking back over my life, remembering, then just to be safe, in case . . .
winding my way through life
twisted turns rising higher
pausing
glancing downward from whence i came
to the abysmal gorge so resonant
lifeless
familiar
one erroneous step would find me plummeting down
down
scrutinizing
i take heed of one branch
jutting from the insides of yesterday
i commit to memory it's position
knowing where to grasp hold securely
and
direct my concentration
should i once again tread too far
