How life in Louisiana was for us kids before Katrina
I never wanted to hurt you guys
I never wanted it to be this way
I'm just so choked-up
I don't know what to say

I thought we'd be all right
just staying up all night
getting a kick out of the rain
while our parents drank cheap champagne

But we're all right
Life is just a fight
so try to understand
This is the way and who I am
