This was originally written as a "death poem" exercise.
Welcome sweet death, release from pain
Death comes quietly in the window, seeking me, and I open my arms to embrace it
Take me from this wretched path I walk, into your cold arms
I have longed for the silent peace you offer
The cold kiss on my brow
The last ragged breath I take sets me free
Thank you for coming so quickly, when I called
