An Emotionless Void

She stood in the blackest dark
covering her like a weighted quilt
standing alone she was set apart
enclosed by all the walls she built

arms spread wide she lifts her eyes
the tears fall silently as she cries
open soul and open mind
leaves everything she knew behind

a glimpse of light a glimpse of hope
was all she needed to escape
but all alone her heart so fair
had left her cold and unaware

longing fills her emerald eyes
wrapped her with its lullaby
silence ringing vibrant tunes
away she would be taken soon

loves desire consumes her life
opening doors of burden and strife
clear black sky enclosed the night
she gazes wearily for signs of light

a moment in time ends abruptly
a silent sigh echoes intensely
the air grows still as she emerges
no simple sin can quench these urges

a sight set high
she sails away
one message thin
but worn serenely

the sky grows thin as she fades away
the mist shadows and she thanks the day
one footfall simply takes her where
she knows she will end this fateful nightmare

over sins and sighs she wears thin
her faith grows stronger as she lies
her heart grows lighter from within
no once loved man will cut these ties

pain scarred hearts have no less time
than simple lies left lone to rhyme
only one can save this truth
of one's own enemy of such uncouth

as all must put on their lone facade
i too may simply fade
no heart held high or faith strung low
can end this pain felt deep below

such a burden we all must share
yet none can see past their own unfair
over endless analytical frustration
she can answer to one simple destination
