Prayers really help. This poem explains it for me.
Isn’t funny?
In the blink of an eye
Reality is fantasy
Truth is lie?

Isn’t it odd?
In the turn of a head
What once was spoken
Is now left unsaid?

I notice it all
As my life goes on by
And every day
I wonder why

Why am I here?
What purpose is mine?
Do I have a purpose?
I watch for a sign

I search for a sign
To speak to my soul
To lighten my heart
To help make me whole

I don’t know where
To turn or to go
Then I remember
Words from now and long ago

I fold my arms
Though I’m not at my bed
I close my eyes
And bow my head

I pour out my soul
To my maker, my friend
I ask him to comfort me
And love me to the end

I ask him to help me
And I know it will be done
Simply because he loves me
As he does every daughter, every son

He embraces me
In is arms, so kind
I know that he
Will help me find

Someone who’s presence
Will help me get by
Who will be my friend
No matter why

Finally I feel at peace
And get up from my chair
I open my eyes
And see you standing there

You stand there watching
And willing to be
The friend that I want
And the friend that I need

I know you notice
The grief in my life
And I know that you wish
You could take away the strife

My eyes search yours
And I know you understand
I know that in dark times
You’ll take my hand

I have the answer
To my prayer
I realize again
How much He cares

After all,
He sent you to me
That alone helped me
His love, to see

Isn’t it funny?
Through one simple prayer
Our needs are fulfilled
And we know God is there.
