The joy of Autumn as seen through a child's eyes

Autumn

The silence of the Autumn night
Betrays the changes to our sight
With Mother Nature at her job
The Summer dew does cease to sob

The greeness of the trees are lost
To cooler nights and morning frost
And blankets of color lay all around
creating a colorful child's play ground

Piling of leaves to a Northern sky
Catching the breeze and making them fly
Jumping in and bury me deep
Hiding from mom, not a sound I do peep

Collecting assortments to hang on my wall
And making it seem like my own Autumn, "Fall"
The sun washes over and through baring trees
And bounces the color off of grand Oak leaves

The gold grass sways with the chill in the air
I could sit here forever and ever I stare
Creating a picture of sorts in my mind
Wishing to capture on canvas or line

The essence of an Autumn day
The richness of the Earth's own clay
The closeness that I feel is deep
When watching Summer's time of sleep

And knowing when the Season's past, I'll feel the same as with the last
