Being burned, and then finding someone who really cares can be hard to deal with.
How many lessons must be learned?
How many times do I have to be burned?
The way you hold me, makes my heart soar.
The way you love me, melts me to the core.
A part of me wants to love you forever.
The other part says this is a foolish endeavor.
You know how much I've been hurt in the past.
Only finding love that refuses to last.
You say you won't hurt me, you're not like the rest.
To be with me always is your only request.
You don't know how much I want to believe you.
You don't know how badly I want this to be true.
Frightened of the one thing that could set me free.
Let go of this pain and just let this be.
But I hold the fear close, as I push you away.
You say I can run, but by my side you'll stay.
Can you not see? It should be so clear.
My love for you is my greatest fear.
