What would happen if we could test out life beforehand in a little tube?
I wish I had a world to test,
to see what things would fly.
Then we’d play for hours,
just my tiny creatures and I.

Little green critters,
human-like would be best,
they’d react like us,
but they’d never need rest.

I’d see how they hurt,
see how they scream.
It’s just a glimpse
of the real world, it seems.

Synthetic sky,
synthetic rain.
They’d look like us,
they’d feel our pain.

A bitter word here,
a jab to the jaw.
No one would care,
‘cause no one ever saw.

These little green buggers,
all alone in their shell.
They’d never know better,
in their small test-tube hell.

Too bad there’s no such place,
no creatures like that lot.
So think before you act,
this life’s the only one we’ve got.
