This poem was co-written by my little brother, Jacob Kirkpatrick.
Don't Ostricise me, Grandpa
I am not a whipper
nor a snapper
stand down old man
Don't you realize that we all die?
you sooner than I
so why secure what you can't take with you
when you can't take with you what you want
the point of your life was conformity and cash
was it not?
stand down old man
we are the new generation
the ones in control
we sell ideas
not our souls
the seats of power yearn not for old ways
tradition
it hasnt improved anything yet
why keep it going
Those who do not pay attention to history are not doomed to repeat it, they are then able to make new history with the present.
the everlasting urge to make everyone as safe and passive as you
we are not you
look at my car
look at my house
look at my jeans
unsatisfactory, I suppose
you wont let me live my way
you must be god
or an obomination thereof
do you think I am consealing a gun?
is that what you want to believe?
your fear is that I wont fit into your stereotype
too bad
I don't
Stand down, old man.
