Eating Kamias
Eating Kamias

Kamias fruit in a bowl
Fresh from the tree
Like pudgy green fingers
I pick one and take a small bite
An explosion of intense sourness, almost bitter
Overflows my mouth
My eyes tear and I blink
I chew carefully
Crunching the meat
Letting the juice flow inside my mouth
Feeling my tongue grow numb

I dip it in salt
And prepare to take another bite
