direction and deception in life
Conquests of Mystery

I'm in this life and I don't know why
Wait for time and watch it pass me by
Purpose eludes my quest to understand
What it is that makes me a man
Slipping through fingers, just a minute late
Out of my reach, if only time would wait

Look and talk like them, you'll fit right in
Or get passed over, an unwanted orphan
Taught aspects of life, except what we need to know
So I turn for truth in Sex, Drugs, and Rock 'n Roll
Paths of society that are to be followed
Lull me into a false sense of bravado
Leading me into an empty hollow
Then handed my Pride and forced to swallow

In a swordfight with the life I know
Drifting and hiding in darkness to cope
Cutting through me, the blade of life
Continuing my conquest, filled with sacrafice
Grasping rays of Light that make the man
How can I be sure they're for the man I am

Detectives we are, searching for truth
Through inhabitions and cloudy myths without proof
In a lifetime duel with the cavernous realm
Fighting its gravity with what's left of my sanity
Answers can't be photographed or caught on film
But only, in glimpses, of natures clarity.
