A winter interlude.
Banks of silent silver flakes,
echo moonlights diamond gifts.
Sleigh bells' jingle breaks the hush,
mellow laughter, merry drifts.

Small white fox observes the print,
of the bounding golden hare.
Each hot breath expelled doth shiver,
dying on the crackling, evening air.

River rushes, never staunched,
under cloaks of pristine ice.
Trout take refuge in the deeps,
Ice-fishermen deftly entice.

Bald head eagles comb the crags,
of the ragged mountaintops.
Dancing flame warms frozen fingers,
timber cracks and brightly pops.

Branches of the clotheless trees,
sway in twists and tempest whorls,
Of the keen North wind which plays,
till the springs bright morning florals.
