Describes the life of a prisoner.
The Prisoner

To be captured

Taken to a camp

To have a number

Be labelled like a tramp

The prisoner

Only fighting for freedom

Is taken and lined up

With the rest

No time for hunger

Or plotting escapes

When at any time

You could be put to rest

But then again

If you escape

You have a chance

To make it back alive

But they may come

And look for you

But you have got to run to survive

You are destined to stay alive

You’re not a prisoner

You’re a free man

Your heart belongs only to you

You’re not a number

You’re your own man

And your heart is with you

The click of the finger on the trigger

A shot rings out across the land

And a bullet from that evil finger

Will be crossing and looking out for you

No one said there’ll be no freedom

No one said there won’t be a home

To go to when this war is over

Live on you will

To tell this wondrous tale

But you’re recaptured

Brought back to the camp

Your lined up at a wall and shot

Your soul lifts up and you see yourself

Then your eyes open up

And you say to yourself

My life is over

It is done.
