Taking a good look at yourself to see how we let men redefine us.
As I rose from the bed feeling lightheaded
I looked into the mirror
I couldn't believe what I saw
Is this really me?
Am I really she?
She was the woman for the last couple of
years that let his feels and words define her
innermost being.
She was the woman that made sure that whatever his innermost thoughts were that she was doing it before his mouth spoke the words. She was the doormat for all his down talk and hurtful words. She was the one with the problem... be it weight, beauty, or intelligence. But I ... I am the mother of civilization. I am the carrier of life, the warrior woman. But as I look closer into the mirror I see the reflection clearer... I realize that the I in me I have lost and have settled for being just the SHE...
