the effect of music in a teenager's life
The Music of Our Souls

My money already spent
I stand in a mass of people
Crowding a stage.
We trip over each other,
Singing and dancing.
A blanket of darkness lays over everything,
the stage the sole source of light.
The music buries our regrets and fears,
we shun the problems of our lives.

The lead singer stands in the center
like a lighthouse upon the shore
with us as waves of movement,
only he can calm the seas.
His voice varying with each song
We eagerly shout the lyrics with him.
He sings of so many things,
the awful fear of being alone
the somber vixen of his dreams
the blissful haze of love.

Each song unique
Our hearts beat in unison with the song.
We are the song.
Whether he sings woefully into the mic
Or mightily slams his guitar
The rancor flows through our veins
The music is the music of our souls.
