a poem by M.E.
Constant

Even as I sink further
Into the depths of despair
Life continues around me
Frozen to the spot I stand
No one gives a damn

But you where there
To hold me as I cried
To say everything will be alright
Even if I know you lied

The past is haunting me
The future I cannot see
Life brings me only pain
I think I am no longer sane

I can’t stand still
No matter how hard I run
It’s behind me with no sun
Spinning on a stationary wheel
My life you can take
It’s a steal

But you are there
Hating me as I cry
And to only say
Everything will be fine
But I know you lied

The sun is gone
Winter extends all year long
The world sees too much
Yet they don’t know
I no longer want to feel

The loneliness and fear
Are my constant shadows
They hold my hand as
My friends, my lover, my world

My heart churns the further you go
But you will not look at me
You can not hear me
cry for help
cry out of pain

But only loneliness and fear can hear
They hold my hand as I cry
Kiss my head and say
Everything will be okay
But I lied
