A Poem I wrote
Mostly Dead

I’m mostly dead today and likely doomed to live tomorrow.
Every storm hence wrought by Jove could not reflect my sorrow.
A wasted life, a blighted soul, left wanting, aching, hollow.
I’m mostly dead today and likely doomed to live tomorrow.

The willows weep, yet still they live, and so it is with me
And rather like those tortured trees, I’ve roots that can’t be free
The morning star, the clouds so far, alas, I cannot follow
I’m mostly dead today and likely doomed to live tomorrow.

And in night’s cloak, where dreams abound, my prison binds me fast
For in the cold, unfeeling dawn, my fantasies shan’t last
They steal my soul from this crude flesh, for the Last Box to swallow
I’m mostly dead today and likely doomed to live tomorrow.

A choir of souls lament my pain, of life lived in a cage
Whilst indifferent time strolls on with progress all the rage
This life, this earth, and mostly love, all tempting shackles and so
I’m mostly dead today and likely doomed to live tomorrow.
